Celebrate and Participate

The recent Chilean miner rescue brings to light just how much we crave good news these days.  I’ve heard so many friends say they couldn't believe how nice it was to watch a story that ended on a positive note.  Unfortunately, it seems stories like these are the exception and not the rule.  Too often news organizations choose their stories by the mantra “if it bleeds it leads".  Just one quick click from channel to channel and it seems like nothing but bad news. Shootings at a local park, increasing unemployment, oil spills, the list goes on.  It’s frustrating because I know that there are good things going on in this world. I’ve seen them firsthand and I’ve heard about them from others.  From reading the Bible, I know the world we live in is a sinful place.  But I also know from reading the same book that God is good, nothing but good, and he continues to do good things in this world because he loves us, despite our sinful nature.

That’s where the idea of The Good News Revolution website and blog came from.  A place where people from all walks of life can receive encouragement and share their own good news stories.  The Good News is also a five week series at I-90 Community Church that started Sunday, October 3rd and will run through Sunday, October 31st.  You can go to www.i90church.com for more details on how to attend these services and listen to them online.  Our goal is that this blog, the website, and the Sunday services will change your view of God and the world we live in.  There are amazing stories in the bible that showcase the goodness of God, but that goodness doesn’t end in the stories of the Bible.   And because of this, we can rejoice knowing that good things are happening all around us on a daily basis.  We might not hear about them in the news the way we do all of the negative stories, but they are happening.

And this is where you come in.  We want you to pass the website and blog along to your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.  We want you not only to hear the good news, and pass along the good news, but we want you to BE the good news as well.  We want to create a movement, a revolution that celebrates and participates in the wonderful ways God impacts our lives on a daily basis. The Chilean miracle is a story we will never forget.  Themes of resiliency, passion, love, family, working together and having a second chance at life, were shown throughout the two-month story.  But there are stories with similar themes happening in your community and around the world at this very moment.   Let us know if you hear of something good that’s happened.  You can post it at the bottom of this blog, write us at thegoodnews@i90church.com, or contact us via Facebook or Twitter from our home page at www.thegoodnewsrevolution.com.  And maybe, just maybe, you will want to make some good news yourself.  It’s our prayer that God will inspire you to want to make a positive impact in your community.  The greatest example of this is Jesus and what he did for all of us.  May we think of him and how he loved, served, and died for us as we promote and be the good news to everyone we know.
